Ice Cream.
Ice Cream (Heat Treatment, etc.) Regulations, 1959.
Supervision of the Manufacture and Distribution of Ice Cream.
During the year 360 visits were paid to ice cream premises and vehicles.
The number of premises registered:-
(a) for manufacture, sale and storage | 7 |

1. Bacteriological Examination
(a) Ice Cream
Twenty samples of ice cream were sent for bacteriological examination and following Methylene Blue tests were graded as follows:-

Samples falling within Grades I or II are considered satisfactory
It was found that in premises registered for the sale and storage of ice cream, the
proprietor in conjunction with other business carried on in the shop, stored and sold live
maggots and brandlings. Cancellation of the registration followed after the legal formalities
required by the Food and Drugs Act, 1955,had been complied with.
Premises where paraffin is stored and sold are not usually considered suitable for
registration under section 16 of the Pood and Drugs Act, 1955. The choice of storing and
selling paraffin or ice cream is one for the applicant and in a number of cases the trade
in paraffin ceased.
