	and the appropriate certifi-cates were completed in accordance with the Nat-ional Assistance (Amend-ment) Act, 1951, to the effect that this aged per-son should be removed without delay. The sister was informed and gave her consent to any action pro-posed to be taken by the Council in her brother's interest. An Order made by a J.P. was enforced. Arrangements were made with the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals for the care of his dog.
	When Mr. S. was asked why he had adopted such an unhelpful attitude he re-plied " just devilment."
(3) Miss B. (69 years)	This was a case referred to the Department by the patient's doctor after this patient had been seen in the Casualty Department of a local Hospital. She had refused all treatment . When removed to Hospital on a J.P.'s Order this patient was suffering from a skin infection, was in-continent, and was lying in soiled bedding.	Not exceeding three weeks	General Hospital	Transferred to Mental Hospital following visit by the Duly Authorised Officer of the London Council Council.
(4)Miss B. (76 years)	Conditions here became very acute when a friend indi-cated she was unable to continue daily visits to Miss B., who lived alone in two top rooms in a house in which the remaining rooms were unoccupied. This aged person was suffering from chronic bronchitis, was deaf, incontinent, and required nursing attention. Offers of assistance other than from this friend were refused. A J.P. made an Order after the appropriate certification.	Not exceeding three weeks	General Hospital	Agreed to settle per-manently in hospital.
(5)Miss B. (81 years)	This was a further case of a reference from a General Practitioner concerning the use of statutory powers for the removal of a person to suitable premises without delay. Miss B. refused medical and other attention and lived alone. When visited	Not exceeding three weeks	General Hospital	Patient deceased one month after admis-sion.
