AGRICULTURAL PRODUCE (GRADING AND MARKING) ACTS, 1928 and 1931.
MERCHANDISE MARKS ACT, 1926.
All the Sanitary Inspectors are officially appointed for this work. Special
inspections for this particular duty under the Merchandise Marks Act and the
Agricultural Produce (Grading and Marking) Acts made by the Sanitary Inspectors,
by the Food and Drugs Inspector and the Meat Inspector numbered 819.
Prosecutions taken under the Merchandise Marks Act, 1926, numbered 5, all of
which were successful.
The Orders which have been made relate to:—
Agricultural Produce (Grading and Marking) Acts, 1928 and 1931.
Asparagus, apples, artichokes, beef, broad beans, broccoli, brussels
sprouts, blackcurrants, cabbages, carrots, celery, chicory, cherries, cider,
cheese (Derby, Leicester, Lancashire, Wensleydale), cauliflower, creamery
butter, dressed poultry, endive, eggs, fruits (canned and bottled), fruit
juice syrups, fruit products, gooseberries, green peas, grapes (hot house),
horseradish, honey, jam, kidney and runner beans, loganberries, leeks,
lettuce, mustard and cress, marrows, mint, malt extract and malt flour,
rhubarb (natural and forced), potatoes, pears, parsley, perry, plums,
raspberries, red currants, radishes, red beet, red cabbage, strawberries,
spring onions, stilton cheese, seakale, spinach, Scotch kale, sage, swedes
(table), thyme, turnips, tomatoes, vegetables (bottled and canned), wheat
flour and wheat flakes.
Merchandise Marks Act, 1926.
Apples (fresh), butter, beef (boneless), beef (chilled), bacon, currants,
dead poultry, dried eggs, eggs in shell, frozen beef and veal, frozen mutton,
lamb and pork, honey, malt products, maize starch (including maize
starch cornflour), oat products, prepacked salt, raisins, raw tomatoes,
sultanas, salmon and trout, salted beef, salted pork, veal (boneless).
Eggs: Cold or Chemical Storage.
In May, one application was approved for premises to be registered
for the cold storage or chemical storage of eggs. The premises were
vacated in December.
RAG AND BONE DEALERS.
During the year 35 visits were paid to 24 premises upon which is carried on
the business of a rag and bone dealer. In one instance the conditions were not
satisfactory ; cleansing was ordered, and the necessary work was carried out.
