BIRTHS.
During the year there were 4,724 live births registered, of which 2,415 were
boys and 2,309 girls. Of this number, however, 763 were born of mothers living
in Islington, although they were confined in Lying-in Institutions, and in other
homes situated outside the Borough. The annual birth-rate was equal to 15.24
per 1,000 of the population, as compared with a mean birth-rate of 16.68 in the
preceding ten years. In 1933 the lowest birth-rate (14.35) was recorded.
