Overcrowding cases recorded annually as dealt with by service of notice since
1925:—
1925, 19; 1926, 26; 1927, 24; 1928, 37; 1929, 21; 1930, 32; 1931, 59;
1932, 72; 1933, 42; 1934, 61; 1935, 76; 1936,83.
Commencing in March, recommendations were made to the London County
Council on behalf of families living in overcrowded conditions under the standard
laid down by the Housing Act, 1935, and the "special hardship" recommendations
mentioned below were than made only on the grounds of serious ill-health. The
number of families who were found to be overcrowded and recommended for preferential
treatment was 363 ; at the end of the year 64 of these families had been
provided with accommodation by the London County Council.
