SHOPS ACT, 1934.
The following' is a summary of the work under the Shops Act, which came into
operation on the 30th December, 1934.

SWIMMING BATHS AND POOLS.
(a) Public Baths—Borough Council Baths.
Hornsey Road Baths.—There is a filtration, purification and sterilization
installation—Bell Bros, mechanical system and Wallace & Tiernan's Chlorine Gas
apparatus and Ammonia Gas apparatus in operation.
Essex Road Baths.-—Ditto, filtration, purification and sterilization installation
—Kennicott Water Softener Co. 's system and Wallace & Tiernan's Chlorine Gas
apparatus and Ammonia Gas apparatus in operation.
Caledonian Road Baths.—Ditto, filtration, purification &nd sterilization installation—Paterson
Engineering Co.'s system and Wallace & Tierman's Chlorine Gas
apparatus and Ammonia Gas apparatus in operation.
London County Council. Swimming Pool at Highbury Fields.
Area 1,452 square yards; estimated length and breadth, 62 yards by 22 yards,
water purified by filtration.
(b) Privately owned swimming baths or pools.— Nil.

INSPECTION AND EXAMINATION OF FOOD AND PLACES WHERE
FOOD IS PREPARED.
Slaughter Houses—Inspector Haydock reports in respect of the inspection
of meat and other foods that the premises visited which were licensed comprised 7
private slaughterhouses and 1 slaughterhouse for the slaughter of horses for export,
and 1 knacker's yard. The visits numbered 461.
During the year 1 slaughterhouse was licensed by the Council only on the undertaking
of the proprietor that no oxen be kept there overnight, and one licence was
not renewed. There is, therefore, a reduction in the number from 8 to 7.
