HOUSES LET IN LODGINGS.
The houses which come under the operation of the by-laws received 918
inspections during the year, followed by 4,830 subsequent re-inspections and calls
so that the total visits amounted to 5,748.
These inspections iesulted in 990 intimations being served on the persons
responsible, which were followed by 199 statutory notices to demand the abatement
of the nuisance discovered by the Inspectors especially engaged upon this work.
Altogether 4,572 improvements were effected in 821 premises.
