TUBERCULOSIS—HOUSING.
545 premises came under our observation in which resided persons notified
during 1935 as suffering from Tuberculosis. 462 visits were made to premises with
a view of ascertaining the sanitary condition generally of the residences of tuberculous
patients and the following statement gives some idea of the conditions which were
found to exist.
It is satisfactory to note the large proportion of houses in a good sanitary
condition ; in no case could it be said that the home conditions were very bad.

THE INFECTIOUS DISEASES IN THE PUBLIC ELEMENTARY

SCHOOLS.

1,095 cases of the notifiable infectious diseases occurred in the Public Elementary Schools of the Borough, of which 430 were Scarlet Fever and 435 Diphtheria.

The number of notifications of the several diseases are given below :—
