deaths of inhabitants of Islington in Institutions outside the Borough were 1,293.
The total deaths of Islingtonians in all Institutions were 2,829, and the proportion
per 100 deaths from all causes equalled 76.0.
Without the Borough.— 804 deaths of persons belonging to Islington
were registered as occurring in Public Institutions in districts of London outside
the Borough and in various provincial towns. They included, among others,
10 in the North-Western Fever Hospital, 17 in the Children's Hospital, Great
Ormond Street, 42 in St. Bartholomew's Hospital, 31 in the Infirmary, Friern
Barnet, 42 in the Royal Free Hospital, 39 in the University College Hospital, 7
in the North-Eastern Hospital, 5 in the Eastern Fever Hospital, 29 in the
Middlesex Hospital, 6 in the City of London Maternity Hospital, 27 in the
Metropolitan Hospital, 24 at la, Manor Road, Ilford (Claybury), and 18 in Tooting
Bee Hospital.
These 804 deaths represented 23.7 per cent, of ajl the deaths registered in
the year.
Within and Without the Borough.—The deaths of Islingtonians
numbered 2,290, and were equal to 67.6 per cent, of the total deaths registered
during the year.
Fatal Accidents or Sudden Deaths outside the Borough.—
27 inhabitants died from accidents, or suddenly, in places outside Islington.
Transferable Deaths. —During the year 44 deaths of residents that had
occurred in outlying Institutions and other places in Provincial Boroughs were
transferred by the Registrar-General to Islington.
MORTALITY FROM THE PRINCIPAL EPIDEMIC DISEASES.
Small Pox, Measles, Scarlet Fever, Whooping Cough, Diphtheria, Fevers—
Typhus, Enteric and Continued—and Diarrhceal Diseases.
During the year 99 persons died from these diseases, the death-rate being
0.31 per 1,000 inhabitants, as contrasted with 0.46 in 1934, and a decennial averagi
mortality of 163 and a death-rate of 0.50 per 1,000.
In London the death-rate from epidemic disease was 0.26.
