The Islington Voluntary Welfare Centres dealt with cases coming under their
supervision; some are treated at Centres, others are sent to hospitals. The
Borough Council's and Centres' Health Visitors are instructed to visit such cases
and see that the prescribed treatment is being followed.
Discharging ears after Scarlet Fever, coming to the knowledge of the Medical
Officer of Health—8 cases. In addition, 10 from other causes were visited by the
Health Visitors.
TUBERCULOSIS.
565 cases of Tuberculosis in its different forms were notified during the year.
The attack-rate was equal to 1.77 per 1,000 of the civil population. This number
was a decrease of 12 on the return of the previous year, and of 0.01 per 1,000 on
the attack-rate
Respiratory (Pulmonary) Tuberculosis.—462 notifications were
received, of which 275 referred to males and 187 to females, and represented an
attack-rate of 1.48 per 1,000 inhabitants.
