Illegitimate Birth3 (196).—The illegitimate births numbered 196 and
show an increase of 2 on the return of the year 1931. They were equal to a rate
of 4.0 per cent, of the total registered births.
Notification of Births Act, 1907.—3,825 live births were notified (exclusive of 80 stillborn), or 77 per cent, of the total number that were registered during the year.

while the death-rate was equal to 12.36 per 1,000 of the estimated population,
or 0.2 below that of the previous year (12.6), and 0.3 below the mean of the
preceding ten years; whilst the death-rate of England and Wales was 12.0 and
the 117 Great Towns 11.8.
