ARTIFICIAL CREAM ACT, 1929.
This Act is for regulating- the manufacture and sale of reconstituted cream, a
subject lo which reference was made in the Annual Report of the Medical Officer
of Health, 1929, page 74. This "cream" is made by emulsifying butter with
dried skimmed milk powder and water. No applications were received for
registration of premises for its manufacture or sale during the year.
PUBLIC HEALTH {CONDENSED MILK) REGULATIONS, 1923 and 1927.
During the year one informal sample of full cream condensed milk, sweetened,
was taken.
PUBLIC HEALTH (DRIED MILK) REGULATIONS, 1923 and 1927.
Nine informal samples were taken and found in order.
PUBLIC HEALTH (PRESERVATIVES IN FOOD) REGULATIONS,
1925 and 1927.
One prosecution for selling butter containing 0.013 per cent, of boric acid was
taken, and was dismissed under the Probation of Offenders Act on payment of
£5 5;:. Od. costs.

Milk Purveyors and Dairies.—At the close of the year there were 64(i
milk purveyors and dairies on the register, 78 having been added to it, while 13
were removed. The District Sanitary Inspectors paid 853 visits to them, and
served I (5 notices for the carrying out of various sanitary improvements and the
cleansing of dirty utensils.
