Tuberculosis of the Respiratory System(Phthisis or Pulmonary Tuberculosis), caused 280 deaths, as contrasted with the decennial average of 337, while the death.rate was 0.86 per 1,000 of the civil population as against the decennial rate of 1.01 per 1,000. There was a decrease of 57 on the ten years' average number of deaths, and of 0.15 on the mean death.rate.
