Overcrowding in Municipal Housing Estates.
The following table shows the extent of overcrowding found in the Municipal
Estates in the Borough. It will be observed that the overcrowding on these
Estates was equivalent to 18.3 per cent, of the total overcrowding in the Borough.

Estimate of New Houses Required.

An estimate of the number of new houses required to abate overcrowding in the Borough was prepared from the results of the survey. The estimated accommodation required is as follows:-

In calculating the above estimate, due allowance has been made for housing
accommodation likely to be provided for the purposes of the Housing Act, 1930,
and also for a proportion of the vacant accommodation found to exist at the survev.
