Common Lodging-Houses.
In accordance with the Transfer of Powers (London) Order, 1933, made by the
Minister of Health under Section 64 of the Local Government Act, 1929, functions
relating to the registration, licensing, inspection and regulation of common lodginghouses
and the enforcement of by-laws relating to such houses, passed from the
London County Council to the Metropolitan City and Borough Councils as from
the 9th March, 1933.
The Council delegated its powers in this respect to the Public Health
Committee.

At the date of the transfer all the common lodging-houses in the Borough were subject to licences expiring on the 30th June, 1933. Prior to that date the Committee considered applications for the renewal of licences for the twelve months ending 30th June, 1934, and licences were granted as follows:-
