Ages.
1 was under 1 year,
2 were between 1 and 5 years.
2 were between 5 and l6 years
3 were over 16 years.
Removals.
Three cases were removed to the London Fever Hospital, and two to L.C.C. Hospitals.
Death.
One child died, æt 5/12 the death certificate gives gastro-enteritis as cause of death.
Epidemic Diarrhœa.
The disease is notifiable in only a few districts in London, and is not notifiable
in Holborn. The number of deaths of young children under two years of age
classified under the head Diarrhœa and Enteritis was 11, all under
1 year. The methods used to deal with the disease have been detailed in a
previous report; the most important perhaps is that during the third quarter of
the year extra visits are paid to those homes in which epidemic diarrhoea is more
likely to occur (see table on page 85).
Nursing Arrangements.

The services of the district nurses were used as follows in 1932:—

Health and Baby Week.
Health Week, with which Baby Week was combined, was observed in the
Borough during the week 9th to 15th October, 1932.
With a view to economy the programme was limited to the following:—
Co-operation with the School Organisation.
Arrangements were made for about 1,300 senior children from all the
elementary schools in the Borough to write essays on health lessons previously
given in the schools. The best three essays in each school department were selected
by the Head Teachers for sending in to the Public Health Office for prize award;
two prizes, one for boys and one for girls were assigned to each school. The Mayor
and Mayoress (Councillor Bracewell Smith, B.Sc., M.P., and Mrs. Smith) kindly
entertained to tea the prize winners and the children whose essays were selected
