In the past ten years medical examinations have included the taking of
x-ray films by private agency.
In May of this year agreement was reached with Hammersmith Chest Clinic
whereby the Council utilised the special general practitioners' service for a trial
period of six months. The service included the full x-ray examination of staff
and was so successful that it has been continued on a permanent basis. There
are, however, occasional instances where it is more convenient to use the services of
a private firm.
No charge is made by the Chest Clinic for these examinations, and the Council
has recognised this valuable service by making a contribution of £100 to the
Hammersmith Hospital Chest Clinic Instrument Fund.
The scheme for controlling sick leave works smoothly and satisfactorily.
During the year 128 examinations were carried out in this connection.
