(f) Stillbirths
In August, 1963, the Registrar-General made available for the first time details
of inward and outward transferable stillbirths. The opportunity was taken to
obtain from our local Registrars details of the cause of death in all cases of
stillbirths registered with them during the year but unfortunately in one case details
were not available from 1st January, 1963, to 28th April, 1963, as a completed
register had been handed over to the Registrar-General.
The following table therefore shows the cause of death in respect of the 37
stillbirths which occurred in Hammersmith Hospital, the 35 known cases which
occurred in Queen Charlotte's Hospital and the three cases within the Borough
outside the two hospitals. In addition particulars of 9 inward transfers are
included, giving a total of 84.
