Smoke Control Areas (Exempted Fireplaces) Order 1969.
The above Order was made under Section 11 (4) of the Clean
Air Act, 1956, and exempts from that section the "Housewarmer"
and Wood Chip Fired Air Heater fireplaces, upon conditions as to
proper operations.
The Clean Air (Height of Chimneys) (Exemption) Regs. 1969.
These Regulations exempt certain chimneys from the general
requirement that the proposed height of a new chimney shall be
first approved by the local authority. They prescribe the purposes
which carry exemption and include temporary heating or power
arrangements made during a period of maintenance or replacement
of plant, building operations, engineering construction, research
and agricultural operations.
The Clean A ir (Height of Chimneys) (Prescribed Forms) Regs. 1969.
Made under the Clean Air Act, 1968, these Regulations prescribe
(i) the form of application for the approval of the local authority
to the height of a chimney serving a furnace to which S.6 of that
Act applies, and (ii) the particulars to accompany that form. The
section applies to furnaces which are being enlarged, or the chimneys
serving which are being constructed, after 1st April, 1969.
Clean Air Act (Commencement No. 2) Order 1969.
This order, made under Section 15 (3) of the Clean Air Act,
1968, brings into force on the 18th October, 1969, those provisions
of the Act which are not already in operation.
Clean Air (Arrestment Plant) (Exemption) Regs. 1969.
Section 3 (1) of the Clean Air Act, 1968, prescribe that certain
new furnaces shall be provided with plant approved by the local
authority for arresting grit and dust. These Regulations made
under Section 4 (1) of the Act prescribe certain classes of furnaces
which are exempted from the requirements of the Act while used
for certain prescribed purposes. They also prescribe form of application
for the exemption of individual furnaces and particulars
to accompany the form.
The Clean Air (Emission of Dark Smoke) (Exemption) Regs. 1969.
These Regulations made under Section 1 (3) of the Clean Air
Act, 1968, may exempt, subject to certain conditions, the provisions
of Section 1 (1) under which it is an offence to emit dark
smoke from industrial or trade premises.
The Smoke Control Areas (Authorised Fuels) Regs. 1969.
These Regulations declare the fuels specified in Regulation 3 to
be authorised fuels for the purposes of the Clean Air Act, 1956.
