visiting places of interest in the Borough and in Central London.
Reciprocal arrangements were made for the Greenwich residents
on holiday in Sussex.
These holidays, which were very successful, are to be repeated
in future years when it is hoped to include in the scheme other
local authorities such as the Council of the County Borough of
Brighton.
Transfer of Residents
Requests continue to be received for residents to be moved from
one Home to another generally to facilitate visiting by their friends
and relatives. Whenever possible, transfers are arranged to meet
the wishes of residents.
Staff
No difficulty was found in recruiting subordinate staff for our
homes but the replacement of senior supervisory staff was not
always accomplished expeditiously.

Voluntary Homes

Visits to Greenwich residents maintained in voluntary homes continue to be made by Officers of the Directorate. In these special establishments the number of persons being maintained on behalf of this Council rose slightly during the current year as the following table indicates:—

Other Local Authority Homes
With regard to Greenwich residents being maintained in the
homes of other local authorities, the position is as shown overleaf.
Those in Southern Grove Lodge are not included in the statistics
for 1st January, 1969, but former residents of the Lodge transferred
to Hillside Home for the Retired have been included in the
numbers indicated as being in residence at the end of the year.
