Visits to Women's Institutes—On the 28th May, 1964, a party
of 33 semi-invalid elderly citizens were entertained by members of
the Wingham Women's Institute near Canterbury and thoroughly
enjoyed their day's outing.
In addition, we have accepted a repeat invitation from Linton
Women's Institute, Brentwood, near Maidstone, to entertain a
party of 33 semi-invalids on the 29th of June, 1964.
Circus—Olympia—Through the good offices of the British Red
Cross Society complimentary tickets were obtained for the Circus
at Olympia and arrangements were made for a party of 32 elderly
persons to visit the circus on the 21st of January. This visit, which
proved very enjoyable, was rounded off with a cup of tea and
biscuits on the return journey.
Linen Store—At the last Annual Meeting we reported that we
had allocated the sum of £60 for the purchase of bed linen, draw
sheets, etc., to be held in store for issue on loan to homebound
elderly citizens in difficulties at home, under the supervision of the
Medical Officer of Health.
These items have since been in constant demand and we have
allocated a further sum of £60 to replace unserviceable equipment.
Acknowledgments—Many individual acknowledgments have
been made throughout the foregoing Report although it is not
possible to mention personally everyone who has assisted in the
work of the Association during the past twelve months. It gives
us very real pleasure, therefore, to take this opportunity of placing
on record our sincere thanks and appreciation to the members of
all Voluntary Organisations and many others who have given so
much of their time on behalf of our senior citizens. Special mention must again be made of the Greenwich Borough Council for
the many and varied services and facilities which they have continued to make available to the Association; for the increasing
financial grants and also for the free use of the Minor and Borough
Halls. Our thanks must also be expressed to the Town Clerk,
Medical Officer of Health, Borough Treasurer and their staffs for
the able and willing assistance given by them during another busy
and expanding year which has seen our services continue to
improve and extend thus benefiting an even greater number of
senior citizens in the Borough.
Executive Committee 1963/64—The Committee for the past
year has been as follows:—
Council Representatives
Councillor Mrs. M. L. Wentworth (Chairman)
Alderman H. Ingle
