is to see and investigate these persons at an early stage before
there is any severe pulmonary damage. A register is kept of the
more severely disabled patients and they remain under occasional
supervision. As well as the medical problems which arise in the
management of these persons there are social difficulties including
their inability to find suitable work, which are similar to those
disabled by previous tuberculous disease. Some form of sheltered
work would help these too. The organisation of the Chest Clinic
is particularly well suited to help these disabled persons in the
same way as the tuberculous ones.
