Many licensed victuallers have instituted a catering service
during the last few years, some providing prepared food to be
consumed at the bar counter and others supplying a cooked lunch
in a separate dining room. One improvement was carried out at
a public house as a result of informal action.
Food and Drugs Act, 1955.—In accordance with the Council's
contract with the Public Analyst, 387 samples were obtained under
the provisions of the above Act and presented for examination. Of
this total, 37 samples were formal and 350 informal of which 16 (all
informal) were reported to be non-genuine. Five of the unsatisfactory
samples were only incorrectly labelled and have therefore
been excluded in the calculation of the adulteration figure. The
adulteration figure at 2.8% shows an increase of 0.6 over that of
ast year.
Milk was again the main food sampled and not one of the 61
samples submitted for analysis was unsatisfactory.
