On the preventive side the Health Visitors have continued an
active campaign of health education among the families of known
cases of tuberculosis.
Routine contact investigation is an important part of their
work and it is very gratifying to note that an average of 5 contacts
of every new case of tuberculosis were X—rayed at the Clinic. This is
by far the highest of any clinic in London and has been made
possible by the Odelca Camera Unit at the Chest Clinic.
B.C.G. vaccine has again been given to all known contacts,
nurses and hospital staff, who need it, and there has now been an
extension of the scheme to include school leavers.
