At the request of the Medical Superintendent of St. Alfege's
Hospital arrangements were made for the Senior Chiropodist to
attend the Hospital to give treatment to Diabetic patients. Commencing
in October 80 cases were so treated.
In order to provide facilities for a new Centre at Fairfield
Grove, Charlton, the sessions at Bardsley Lane and Rochester Way
were discontinued. The new Clinic established at Ridgebrook Road
in November 1947 will provide Foot Clinic facilities in this area in
1948.
Artificial Sunlight Treatment.—Ultra-violet ray treatment
was available throughout the year at Chevening Road, Shooters
Hill Road, Creek Road, and Charlton Lane Centres.
The new Fairfield House combined Centre at Charlton was made
available for Sunlight Treatment, and regular sessions were held
from April, thus providing facilities for residents in the Charlton
Village area of the Borough.
During the year much of the equipment was brought up to date
and one new Duo-Therapy Model Alpine Sun Lamp was installed.
In the winter months some of the sessions were reduced, owing
to the application of the electricity cuts. Chevening Road Centre
was also closed during August for cleaning purposes.
Arrangements were again made for children attending Day
Nurseries to receive treatment upon the recommendation of the
Clinic Doctor.
