Minor Ailments.—On several occasions during the year
attention was drawn to the fact that children referred from the
Centres were kept for long periods on a waiting list for admission.
At the end of the year the Maternity and Child Welfare Committee
had under consideration the making of alternative arrangements
which would obviate this delay in provision of necessary treatment.
Public Medical Services.
In connection with the Public Medical Services for London a
branch is established in Greenwich which has for its object the
provision of private medical treatment in payment of a small
regular subscription.
I am informed there are 15 local Doctors on the panel who have
between them 853 subscribers.
Birth Control
The Greenwich Women's Welfare Centre opened its Clinic in
March, 1935, at 118, Woolwich Road, S.E.10. Since its inception
over 500 patients have attended and are being sent in increasing
numbers by hospitals, private doctors and welfare centres.
The main object of this Clinic is to provide sound medical
advice by a woman doctor for married women. Cases are recommended
from the Council's Welfare Clinics when in the opinion of
the Maternity Medical Officer such advice is necessary. In
necessitous cases the Council meet the cost of treatment.
L.C.C. School Clinic
