In addition to the above, 1,258 persons were seen by the Health
Visitors at the office, chiefly in connection with milk applications.
Infantile Mortality.—The total number of deaths under 1
year of age was 116, as compared with 89 for the previous year.
The Infantile Mortality Rate is thus equal to 87 per 1,000 Births.
The rate for the previous year was 66, and the average for the last
ten years 63.

Ihe Infantile Mortality Rate for the County of London is 67 and that for the 121 large towns 63. The following are the local rates : —

Of the total of 116 deaths, 42 died before attaining the age of
1 month (34 being in the first week).
