In the late autumn a further outbreak occurred in an Islington
school which may or may not have been connected with the outbreak
already recorded. This involved 15 Pinsbury residents of whom 6
children were regarded as cases and 4 adults and 5 children were
regarded as carriers. It is interesting to note that 8 of these
persons were members of one family.
All the cases of diphtheria and the carriers were treated in
hospital with the exception of one case already recovering and 6
adult carriers, and 1 child carrier, where special circumstances
were considered to render this unnecessary and arrangements were
made for treatment to be given by the General Practitioners
concerned.

The immunisation state of the individuals concerned is given in the following table:-

septic abortion. She did not respond to treatment, and on investigation
was found to be suffering from typhoid. She made a
Satisfactory recovery and specimens taken at three-monthly inter-"
yals remained negative. The family and contacts were placed under
supervision and specimens from them were examined and no spread
of the disease occurred. The source of the infection was not
discovered.
