A total of 103 visits were paid by the Inspectors during 1959,
Unfortunately it was found necessary to take action in respect
of a sausage manufacturing establishment under Section 19 of the
Pood & Drugs Act 1955, which provides for cancellation of the
registration of premises used for specific purposes which fail to
conform with the requirements of the Act. The occupier was given
ample opportunity to render the premises satisfactory, but failed
to carry out the necessary works and eventually appeared before
the appropriate Committee, and was later informed that it had
been decided to cancel the registration in respect of the premises
in question. No appeal was made by the defendant.
The general conditions under which the types of food
preparation and preservation are carried out in the Borough, are
reasonably satisfactory. Improvements have been effected during
the year, and constant supervision is being maintained.
