Slum Clearance
The position obtaining at the end of the year in respect of
individual Clearance Areas is summarised below:-
1. Faulkner's Alley - 2 premises
Rehousing was carried out and the premises demolished.
2. Macclesfield Place - 19 premises
The tenants had not yet been rehoused.
3. Ironmonger Passage - Lizard Street - 3 premises
The Clearance Order was confirmed by the Minister during the
year but rehousing had not commenced.
4. James Gardens - Frye's Buildings - 25 premises
Rehousing had substantially been completed, and Frye's Buildings
and the east side of James' Gardens were demolished.
5. St. James, Row - 8 premises
Rehousing of residential tenants was carried out but the area had
not yet been cleared.
