Inquests.
Inquests were held on 21 residents during the year. The causes
of death found were:—
Natural causes:
(Male 46 years and Female 74 years) 2
Road Accidents:
(Males 41, 68 and 76 years and Female 61 years) 4
Misadventure:
(Males 4, 6 and 62 years and Female 59 years) 4
Accidental Falls :
(Males 82, 76, 70 and 69 years and Females 94 and
72 years) 6
Suicide:
(Males 77, 75 and 71 years and Female 57 years) 4
Murder:
(Female 74 years) 1

The number of cases of Suicide is about the same as in previous
years. It is satisfactory to note that for the first time for several
years none were below 57 years, but on the other hand it is unfortunate
to note that there were three cases over 70 years, as there
had not been any such cases since 1949.
Infant Mortality.
There were 11 deaths amongst infants under one year of age and
the Infant Mortality rate based on 1,000 live births was 16.2. Of
these deaths 6 occurred in the neonatal period. The neonatal
mortality rate was 8.81. The comparative infant mortality rates for
London and England and Wales were 23.8 and 27.6 respectively.
