On October 1st various new enactments came into force. These
were:—

5. Special Designations (Pasteurised and Sterilised) Regulations,
1949.
They provide for a closer supervision of the various designated
milk supplied and of the conditions under which all milk is treated
and handled. They provide for the first time for the use of the
designation " Sterilised."
Striking changes have taken place in the Milk Trade in recent
