CONVALSCEHT TREATMENT: The Noel Home, Letchworth closed on 30th January, 1947
The four children in these reserved cots completed their treatment on that day.
The arrangement with Dedisham Convalescent Homo for the rotention of two cots
was continued and six children were admitted during the year. An arrangement
was commenced with St. Christopher's, Tunbridge Wells - 2 cots reserved -
on the 5th March, 1947. Four admissions were made. The home closed and the
agreement terminated on the 30th September, 1947. Commencing on the Ist July,
1947, four cots were reserved at Melbury Vale House, West Melbury, near
Shaftesbury, Dorset. Eleven children wore admitted to these cots. Four
children were admitted, by arrangement commencing 13th February, 1947, to
the Sydenham Invalid Babies' Nursery, Sydenham Hill, S.E. There were eleven
children admitted to other Convalescent Homes by agreement with the Invalid
Children's Aid Association. Ten mothers and ten children were sent for a
fortnight's holiday through the Women's Holiday Fund.
LEGITIMATE CHILDREN: The Council contribute an annual sum of £101 towards
the improvement of the services of voluntary organisations for Moral Welfare
in London, and is suitably represented on the Council of Moral Welfare.
The Health Visitors pay frequent visits to illegitimate cases and work in
collaboration with the Moral Welfare Worker of the Local Organisation at
St. Faith's Home.
BLOOD TRANSFUSION SERVICE: The Council continued to co-operate with the
North London Blood Supply Depot by arranging blood donation sessions at the
Health Centre.
