Ice-cream:
During the year the sale of ice-cream was small in
comparison to the quantities sold in pre-rationing days. In a large
number of shops registered for the making, storage and sale of ice
cream, no trading was done because the electrical freozers installed
required an overhaul which the manufacturers were unable to carry out;
whilst many shops registered for the sale and storage of ice cream were
unable to trade as they relied upon the large manufacturers for their
supplies, which, owing to the restrictions on ingredients could not be
obtained.
