The figure of abnormalities may appear to be high, but it includes all
forms of bronchitis, emphysema, bronchiectasis, pneumonia, new growths
of the lungs and heart abnormalities, including other less significant
abnormalities in smaller numbers. These figures will indicate the change
in the function of the chest clinic. The new cases referred to are persons
sent to the chest clinic with an introductory letter from the private doctor
for investigation of chest symptoms of one sort or another.
