With regard to the still-births, in five cases the confinements
occurred in hospital, and in the remaining case
the patient was a 10-gravidæ who had been repeatedly urged
to go into hospital for her confinement on account of her
marked anæmia and cardiac dilatation, but declined to do
so, with the result that she was confined at home after a very
long labour, terminating in a still-birth.
With regard to the premature confinements in every case
the patient was a multipara, and in five cases the confinement
took place in hospital.
I should like to add that on the whole the general
health of the mothers appears satisfactory, apart from the
fact that most of them require dental treatment, and although
they are invariably urged to attend the dental clinic, it is
a matter of regret that so few of them avail themselves of
the opportunity.
