Dr. R. C. Townshend reports on the work of the
Maternity Clinic, as follows :—
Report to the Medical Officer of Health on the Cornwall Road
Ante-Natal Clinic for the year 1937.
I am glad to report that there has not been a single
death among the mothers attending the Clinic during the
year. There has been a slight decrease in the number of expectant
mothers owing to the increasing desire of the mothers
to be confined in hospital. I much regret the marked
decrease in the attendance of the mothers recently confined
and would appreciate more co-operation in encouraging these
mothers to attend, although I am aware of the difficulties
these mothers experience in arranging their domestic affairs
to enable them to attend.
With regard to the Miscarriages, 3 cases were treated in
hospital, and the remaining case by her own doctor.
