From 1st April, 1935, a second session was introduced
in addition to the usual Thursday afternoon, this being Monday
afternoon, and it is gratifying to know that approximately
the new session equalled the Thursday sessions, as far as
the number of attendances were concerned, also quite a
number of the mothers found it more convenient to attend
on a Monday than on a Thursday.
Although nearly double the number of sessions were
held, compared with the previous year, there was only an
increase of 92 extractions under gas, and 7 with E/C spray :
on the other hand there was an increase of 114 fillings completed,
or nearly three times the amount of the previous
year. These figures prove that the teeth are in a better condition
generally, and that the importance of retaining the
deciduous teeth for as long as possible is being fully realised
by more parents each year, and the old prejudice against
filling the first teeth is gradually being overcome.
