Food Stalls.
All street stalls from which food for human consumption is
sold are regularly inspected and, where the food sold is stored in the
Borough, the storage places are also inspected. There are 72 food stalls,
the majority of them being in the two street markets in Battersea High
Street and Northcote Road.

(B)—SAMPLING OF FOOD AND DRUGS.
The analysis of samples of food and drugs purchased formally
and informally under the Food and Drugs Act is carried out by
Public Analyst for the Borough, D. G. Forbes, Esq., b.sc., f.R. I. C
at his premises, 325 Kennington Road, London, S.E.11
General bacteriological examination, and the examination
samples of heat-treated milk and of ice-cream, is carried out by
Public Health Laboratory Service.
The total number of formal samples taken under the Act during
1962 was 124. In addition, 300 informal samples were procured.
Of the 424 formal and informal samples procured for analysis, three
informal samples (0.1 per cent.) were reported by the Public Analyst
to be adulterated.
The percentages of samples reported by the Public Analyst
be adulterated during the quinquennia 1921 to 1960 are given in .
