Slum Clearance.
During the year the Council made Compulsory Purchase Orders
in respect of 12 small areas, containing 53 dwellings, in the Winstanley
Road district which had been represented for slum clearance during the
Previous year.
Compulsory Purchase Orders in respect of the following 16 slum
clearance areas, containing 259 dwellings represented as unfit, were
confirmed by the Minister of Housing and Local Government during
1961:-
Wilditch Street Nos, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 Areas.
Winstanley Road Nos. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 Areas.
Weybridge Street Nos. 1, 2 and 3 Areas.
Henley Street Area.
The Wilditch Street Area had been represented in 1959, and the
remaining Areas in 1960.
Inspections made in connection with slum clearance during 1961
totalled 330.
