Adulterated Samples.
One informal sample and one formal sample of Golden Raising
Powder were found to be deficient in available carbon di-oxide to
extent of 40 per cent. Upon investigation, it was found that the
commodity had been in the retailer's shop for two years. Following a
representation to the retailer, the stock was withdrawn from sale.
Four formal samples of sausages and preserved meat were found
to contain a lower percentage of meat than what is generally agreed
they should contain. As there is no statutory requirement in this matter,
action was taken by cautioning the manufacturers.
