Deaths of Illegitimate Infants.
The death rate amongst illegitimate children during 1960 was
52.08 per 1,000 illegitimate live births, as compared with 43.96 in
1959. The corresponding death rate of legitimate children in 1960 was
14.36, the ratio of mortality rate of illegitimate infants to that of
legitimate being 360 to 100. The corresponding figure for 1959 was
225 to 100.
Maternal Mortality.
There were no deaths from "diseases or accidents of child-birth"
during 1960. During 1959 there were two such deaths.
The rate for England and Wales in 1960 was 0.39.
