Cancer Deaths.
During 1960 the number of deaths of Battersea residents from
cancer was 262 (135 males, 127 females), as compared with 246 in 1959.
The death rate from the disease per 1,000 of the population was 2.45.
The deaths from cancer constitute 23.2 per cent. of the total Battersea
deaths during the year.

Infant Mortality.
During 1960 the deaths of 35 infants under 1 year of age were
registered as belonging to Battersea. The total number of live births
registered during the year was 1,933 giving an infant mortality rate
of 18.11 per 1,000 live births as compared with 21.67 in 1959 and
23.96 in 1958.
