Whooping-Cough.
During 1933 there were 613 cases of Whooping-Cough notified
under the Battersea (Measles and Whooping-Cough) Regulations,
1922, to the Medical Officer of Health and 363 additional cases were
reported from the public elementary schools and other sources.
The total number of cases notified or otherwise reported during
1933 was 976, as compared with 1,109 in 1932, 747 in 1931, 537 in
1930, and 1,317 in 1929, the decrease in 1933 compared with 1932
being 12 per cent.
There were 12 deaths registered from this disease, the death
rate being 0.08, as compared with 11 deaths and a death-rate of
0.07 in 1932, 5 deaths and a death-rate of 0.03 in 1931, 7 deaths
and a death-rate of 0.04 in 1930, and 43 deaths and a death-rate
of 0.27 in 1929.
Vaccination.
On 31st March, Dr. Lurie, Public Vaccinator for No. 4 District,
resigned his appointment.
In May the Council revised the districts into which the Borough
is divided for vaccination purposes, reducing the number from
9 to 7, but leaving the number of vaccinators unaltered.
In September the Public Vaccinator for the new Nos. 1 and 2
Districts (Dr. C. E. McDade) resigned his appointment, and in
October the Council made separate appointments for those districts.

vaccinators at the end of the year are shewn in the following
statement:—
