Erysipelas.
There were 115 cases of Erysipelas notified and 5 deaths were
recorded from the disease during 1933 in Battersea, 3 of which
were of un-notified cases. The case-mortality was 4.24 per cent.
of the total recorded incidence and the death-rate per 1,000 population
was 0.03.
Measles.
Measles was not so prevalent in Battersea during 1933 as in
the previous year, the number of cases notified and reported totalling
500 as against 2,913 in 1932. One death from the disease was
recorded.
Of the 500 cases 419 were notified under the Regulations—The
Battersea (Measles and Whooping Cough) Regulations, 1922—and
the remaining 81 cases were reported by the public elementary
schools or from other sources. The death-rate was 0.006 per 1,000
population, as compared with 0.146 in 1932, 0.013 in 1931 and
0.236 in 1930.
The case-mortality of the total incidence (notified and reported)
was 0.20 per cent., as compared with 0.79 per cent. in 1932, 2.25
percent. in 1931, 1.13 per cent. in 1930 and 0.88 percent. in 1929.
