Public Health Inspectors
As already mentioned the public health inspectors take a considerable
part in health education. During the normal course of their duties they
come into contact with a wide variety of people including shop keepers
and food handlers. Every opportunity is taken of advising and instructing
staff of the establishments they visit.
In addition from time to time requests are received for talks to be
given on various health subjects and, wherever possible, on the initiative
of public health inspectors owners and proprietors of businesses are
invited to arrange for talks to their staff. Subjects range from matters
of general interest on the work of the department to organisations such
as clubs and discussion groups to more detailed talks on subjects of
health and hygiene to specific organisations and specialised groups such
as hotel chefs and food handlers in large stores and schools. The officers
concerned are always pleased to give such talks at any time.
