FORWARD PLANNING
Residential Home for the Elderly - King's Mead
Reference was made in last year's report to the running down
programme of King's Mead, which accommodated 317 men and women.
During 1970 it was possible to close 92 beds when the purpose-built
home at Northolt, Dovehouse Court was fully operational. During the
year the building works on the second replacement home for 6l
residents has continued, and although there have been some delays
it is hoped that the builder will hand this home over to the Council
in August, 1971. The plans for the final replacement home were
approved during the year and building works will start early in 1971
on a site adjoining the existing King's Mead.
Temporary Accommodation
The Greater London Council have confirmed that the premises
144/148, Earls Court Road at present used by the Social Services
Committee to provide 16 units of temporary accommodation will be

course of erection on the Trenmar Lodge site is due to be
completed on 1st September, 1971, and negotiations are in hand to
acquire a building for conversion to a further 8 units. These
two units will replace the 16 units at 144/148, Earls Court Road.
