PERSONAL HYGIENE.
16,279 (16,170) children were seen during comprehensive surveys and 148
(231) were found to be verminous. Inspections during selective surveys
numbered 4,333 (7,200) and on 112 (199) occasions children were found to be
verminous. The number of individual children found to be verminous was 157
(271).
BATHING CENTRE.
Children attended the bathing centre on 344 (315) occasions, when 90 (72)
cases of scabies and 114 (155) verminous cases were treated. As in the
previous year, no cases of impetigo were treated.
It is evident from the foregoing figures that there is still a need for
vigilance on the part of all concerned.
REMEDIAL FOOT CLASSES.
With the continued co-operation of the head teachers, remedial classes
were held in eight primary schools. 216 (176) children were treated by
teachers who have attended special classes at the College of Physical
Education. Overall supervision was given by a medical officer who visited
each class at regular intervals.
