In one case, an owner applied for the revocation of an
"unfitness certificate" granted to his tenant, on the grounds
that the necessary works had been carried out. This
application was granted.

Slum Clearance
In 1950, the Council re-commenced their slum clearance
work under the Housing Act, 1936, which had necessarily been
interrupted during the war and post-war years. The following
is a summary of the action taken up to the end of 1953:-
Elgin Mews (28 premises)
This area was made the subject of a
Compulsory Purchase Order on the 3rd October, 1950,
which was confirmed without modification by the
Minister of Housing and Local Government on the
28th March, 1951.
By the end of the year, the Council were
completing purchase of the properties and the vacation
of the premises.
Lionel Mews (13 premises)
A Compulsory Purchase Order made on the
27th February, 1951, by the Council was confirmed
without modification by the Minister of Housing
and Local Government on the 13th September, 1951.
By the end of the year, the Council were
completing purchase of the properties and the vacation
of the premises.
