BOROUGH CREMATION SERVICE
In October 1957, the Borough Council entered into an agreement with
the General Cemetery Company under the terms of which the Company provides
cremation facilities at reduced rates at the West London Crematorium,
Harrow Road, W.10., for persons who, at the time of death, resided or were
normally resident in Chelsea, Since this service was introduced the
relative or executor of the deceased has been required to pay a reduced
standard charge of £4. 4s. Od. in such cases, but from 1st June, 1963,
due to rising costs, this charge was increased by £1. lls.6d. to £5.15s.6d.

year, 248 post-mortems were carried out in respect of Chelsea residents.

Council's employees and new entrants to the superannuation scheme. As
